Time of the Guardia Change of the Royal Palace of Madrid
This event takes place every Wednesday and Saturday at theThe Prince’s Gatefrom 11: 00 to 14: 00 (10: 00 to 12: 00 during the summer months). Every 30 minutes, the sentries, dressed in gala uniforms in blue, white and red, perform a relief accompanied by military music played with pifans and drums. In addition, every 10 minutes, the sentries on horseback spread in front of the façade of the palace.
The Solemne Relay
For those looking for an even more spectacular experience, theSolemne relieftakes place on the first Wednesday of each month (except in January, August and September) at 12: 00 at thePlaza de la Armeria. This event, which lasts about 50 minutes, includes parades of lancers, alabarderos, rifle companies and cavalry and artillery units, all accompanied by music from the Royal Guard’s Music Unit. More than 400 soldiers and 100 horses participate in this ceremony, which culminates in a concert at the Prince’s Gate.
