- Day 1: Macarella and Macarelleta Coves.
- Day 2: Son Saura Cove in the morning and Ciudadela in the afternoon.
- Day 3: Turqueta Cove in the morning, Son Bou or Binibeca in the afternoon. We saw Son Bou because we were staying there and we saw the sunset on the beach.
- Day 4: Cavalleria Cove in the morning, sunset at the Cavalleria lighthouse.
- Day 5: Pregonda Cove in the morning, sunset at Cuevas d’en Xoroi in the afternoon.
What to see in Menorca
Going to Menorca means going to enjoy its coves, the Citadel and the beautiful sunsets.
There are a multitude of coves, here we compile the ones we liked the most, which are the ones we visited. It is necessary to distinguish that the northern coves are of red sand, while the southern ones are of white sand. Important, especially in the south, the parking lots are limited and once you reach the capacity they do not let more cars enter, so you will have to get up early.
The places you can not miss are:
- Macarella and Macarelleta Coves: they are the most beautiful and are next to each other, but important, you can only go if you book a bus because the capacity is limited and it goes by a road that only let buses pass (we also saw a boat arrive so I understand that there will be a way to get there this way but I do not know which one). The bus leaves from Ciudadela, you have to book it in advance to make sure you don’t run out of tickets.
You can book the bus from here: Línea 69 Ciutadella – Macarella, Autocares Torres (e-torres.net)
And, here I have recovered an article of the current time (year 2024) where you can see that they continue to cut traffic to cars in high season, if you want to read more:
Macarella veta desde este sábado el acceso en coche: solo se podrá ir en autobús o a pie (menorca.info)Cala Macarella, Menorca
- Cove Turqueta: turquoise, like the two previous ones, although we did not find it as beautiful. It is also true that the year we went there it was more saturated than usual because the Estrella Damm commercial for Mario Casas was filmed there.
The access if you go by car is cut off when the parking lot is full. In fact, one day we arrived at 8:30 and they didn’t let us in, and the next day, at 8:30 there was only one car left in the parking lot so we got in by the skin of our teeth. It is true that we went in high season (August).Cala Turqueta, Menorca
- Cove Son Saura: also turquoise, we went there the day we could not enter the Turqueta because it was relatively close, 30 minutes by car because you have to get almost to Ciudadela to go by road and 45 walking along a path. It is fine, but there was little room to put the towel because of the tide.

- Cavalleria beach: of red sand and very cool. We went in the afternoon because next door is the Lighthouse of Cavallería, from where we saw a spectacular sunset. 100% recommendable.

- Cala Pregonda / Binimel: from the north as well and of red sand. They are next to each other (you can even swim from one to the other). They share a parking lot. The farthest is Pregonda, which is where almost everyone is (although it was not saturated). It is well signposted and I also recommend it. I have seen in a blog that, as in Cavallería, the sunset there is very cool.

- Ciudadela: beautiful city near the coves. In it we can find the port and examples of medieval architecture.

- Cueva d’en Xoroi: spectacular cave next to the sea, where you can have a drink while enjoying an incredible sunset.

- Son Bou / Binibeca: usually people visit Binibeca, but we saw that the style of houses is similar, nice white houses. As we were staying in Son Bou we decided to stay there, as we had the beach next to us from where we could see the sunset as well, although there were clouds.

Tips for the visit
Apart from getting up early to go to the coves, go to the caves d’en Xoroi and book the buses to Macarella and Macarelleta, we advise you to bring goggles or a diving mask, as you can see small fish in all the coves, especially in the northern ones. In Cavallería I saw a moray eel and in Pregonda I heard someone say he had seen an octopus. Also, bring a cooler because in most of the coves you have to walk at least 1 kilometer from the parking lot to get there and the temperature in summer is very hot.
