What to see in Menorca
Going to Menorca means going to enjoy its coves, the Citadel and the beautiful sunsets.
There are many coves, here we collect the ones we like the most, which are the ones we visit. It must be distinguished that the coves in the north are of red sand, while those in the south are of white sand. Important, especially in those in the south, the parkings are limited and once you get to the room they don’t let in any more cars, so it will touch you early.
The places you can’t miss are:
- Macarella and Macarelleta coves: are the most beautiful and are next to each other, but important, you can only go if you book a bus as the capacity is limited and you go along a way that only let buses pass (we also saw a boat arrive so I understand that there will be some way to get there like this even though I don’t know which one). The bus leaves Ciudadela, you have to book it yes or yes in advance to make sure the tickets are not exhausted.
You can book the bus from here:Line 69 Ciutadella – Macarella, Autoaches Torres (e-torres.net)
And here I have recovered an article from the current moment (year 2024) where it is seen that they continue to cut traffic to cars in high season, in case you want to read more:
Macarella vets car access from this Saturday: you can only go by bus or on foot (menorca.info)Cala Macarella, Menorca
- Cala Turqueta: turquoise, like the two above, although we didn’t find it so pretty. It is also true that the year we went was more saturated than normal because it was filmed by Mario Casas’ Star Damm announcement.
The access if you go by car is cut when the parking lot is filled. In fact, one day we arrived at 8: 30 and they didn’t let us through and the next day, at 8: 00 and there was just one car left in the parking lot so we went in through the hairs. It is true that we went in high season (August).

- Cala Son Saura: also turquoise, we went there the day we couldn’t get into the Turqueta because it was relatively close, a 30-minute drive because you have to get almost to Ciudadela to go by road and 45 walking a road. Okay, but there was little room to put the towel down the tide.
Cala are Saura, Menorca
- Cavalleria beach: red sand and very cool. We went in the afternoon because next door is the Cavalry Lighthouse, from where we saw a spectacular sunset. Recommended 100%.

- Cala Pregonda / Binimel: from the north and from red sand. They are glued (you can swim even from one to the other). Share parking. The farthest is Pregonda, which is where almost everyone is (although not saturated). It is well suited to arrive and I also recommend it. I’ve seen in a blog that just like Cavalleria, the sunset there is very cool.
Cala Pregonda, Menorca
- Citizen: beautiful city near the coves. In it we can find the port and examples of medieval architecture.

- Caves d’en Xoroi: spectacular cave attached to the sea, in which to drink something while you can enjoy an incredible sunset.

- They are Bou / Binibeca: usually people visit Binibeca, but we saw that the style of houses is similar, beautiful white houses. As we were staying in Son Bou we decided to stay there, as we had next to the beach from which we could see the sunset as well, although there were clouds.

Tips
In addition to early morning to go to the coves, to go in time to the caves d’en Xoroi and to book the buses to Macarella and Macarelleta, we advise you to wear glasses or diving mask, which look like fish in all coves, especially in the north. In Cavalleria I saw a brunette and in Pregonda I heard someone say I had seen an octopus. In addition, take a refrigerator because in most coves you have to walk at least 1 km from the parking lot and the temperature in summer is very hot.
